A UNIQUE EVENT LIVESTREAMED FROM PARIS
September 16 & 17, 2025

Transform your view and knowledge of trauma

With the author of the bestseller The Body Keeps the Score – over 6 million copies sold worldwide.

Two exceptional days with Bessel van der Kolk and Licia Sky

Join Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, a leading figure in trauma research, author of the bestseller The Body Keeps the Score, and Licia Sky, co-founder of the Trauma Research Foundation, and experience the power of AjoiA’s polyvagal-informed music.

Over two intensive days, combining theory, neuroscience, clinical cases and practical exercises, you’ll delve deep into the mechanisms of trauma and discover concrete ways to promote healing.

On the program:

  • Understanding the impact of trauma on the brain and development
  • In-depth analysis of symptoms and mechanisms of trauma
  • Discovering innovative therapeutic approaches
  • Acquiring tools to promote integration and safety
  • Experimenting with post-traumatic stress relief movements
  • Experimenting with regulatory soundscapes (with AjoiA).

Case studies, experiential exercises and concrete strategies will punctuate these two days, offering you a global and practical vision of trauma and its treatment. AjoiA will complete the package by offering you moments of emotional regulation thanks to their “soundscapes” that will help regulate your nervous system to better integrate your learning.

Experience a unique moment: Bessel van der Kolk and Licia Sky together on stage to share their wisdom and knowledge of trauma.

“We have discovered that helping victims of trauma find the words to describe what has happened to them is profoundly meaningful, but usually it is not enough. The act of telling the story doesn’t necessarily alter the automatic physical and hormonal responses of bodies that remain hypervigilant, prepared to be assaulted or violated at any time. For real change to take place, the body needs to learn that the danger has passed and to live in the reality of the present. The Body Keeps the Score, Bessel van der Kolk.

A unique immersion into the understanding of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder

Trauma disrupts everything: our ability to feel pleasure, to bond, to feel safe and to trust. It profoundly affects the development of the brain, the mind and our relationship with ourselves.

To heal, it’s not enough just to talk: you have to learn to experience your emotions in safety, to regulate your nervous system, to trust (again), to (re)connect with your body so that you can live fully (again) in the present.

During these two exceptional days, world-renowned psychiatrist and researcher Dr. Bessel van der Kolk will draw on over 40 years of clinical experience and his landmark book The Body Keeps the Score to explore the neurobiological implications of psychological trauma and present a range of innovative therapeutic approaches based on the latest research.

Together with Licia Sky, co-founder of the Trauma Research Foundation, they will offer both a theoretical corpus and practical exercises. With them, you’ll discover the benefits of proven practices such as yoga, EMDR, meditation, neurofeedback, psychedelic-assisted therapy, music, theatre and psychodrama.

This two-day event will give you a comprehensive, embodied understanding of the effects of trauma, as well as an overview of the most promising therapeutic interventions to support the healing process.

AjoiA: music as a regulating and healing tool

AjoiA composes scientifically calibrated soundscapes, based on Polyvagal Theory (frequencies, rhythms, spatialization), which help regulate the autonomic nervous system and release traumatic tensions, enabling one to regain a sense of inner security and connection with others.

AjoiA is a project supported by Dr. Stephen Porges, the creator of Polyvagal Theory: “AjoiA creates a powerful and enjoyable new musical genre that promotes relaxation, emotional expression, social connection and personal growth.”

What AjoiA’s soundscapes will do for you:

  • A state of calm and curiosity
  • Activation of the ventral vagus nerve for enhanced inner security
  • A sense of belonging and connection
  • Positive visualizations that boost self-esteem
  • Freer breathing and relief of muscular tension
  • A gradual release of trapped emotions, such as anger, fear or sadness.

Participants in AjoiA workshops share that they experienced “less stress”, “more mindfulness”, “better social connection” and the ability to “let out pent-up anger or aggression”, in complete safety.

Bessel van der Kolk has transformed the lives of millions of people.

« Bessel van der Kolk is a giant. An essential pioneer in the understanding of trauma, whose work has transformed thousands of therapeutic journeys – including my own.

Like many, I first met him through his teachings, then through his book The Body Keeps the Score, which has become a companion for so many mental health professionals. And finally, I met him “in real life”, in Oxford, in 2023, during an evening event at the Museum of Natural History.

That evening, I told him about Quantum Way, including our publishing branch, and our work to make the most cutting-edge therapies accessible to French speakers. He replied, “If you invite me to Paris, I’ll be there.”

So we invited him. And he said yes.

Bessel’s teaching is unique: he explores, he questions, he rigorously supervises research, and above all, he conveys an essential conviction: trauma is not a life sentence, and the path to healing is through the body.

He defends evidence-based practices that are also profoundly human. He challenges dominant models, paves new ways, and restores hope to those who accompany trauma survivors on the healing path, as well as to those who walk it.

These are the two days we’re offering you: an exceptional encounter with Bessel, and with Licia Sky, his partner in work and life, whose presence embodies listening, bodily adjustment and human warmth.

And because we believe in the power of art for inner transformation, we’ll also be welcoming AjoiA, a musical project that heals, led by Andrew (Shovell) Lovell and Anthony Gorry.

I hope to see you there, and together, to make this a trauma-informed, kinder, more conscious, more connected world »
