Psychologist specializing in the treatment of post-traumatic stress.

Pascale Brillon, Ph.D., director of the Alpha Institute in Montreal, is a psychologist specialized in the treatment of post-traumatic stress, and a professor in the Department of Psychology, University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM). She is also the director of the “Trauma and Resilience” research laboratory and former editor-in-chief of the journal Science et Comportement.

Pascale Brillon is the author of four books: Comment aider les victimes souffrant de stress post-traumatique (a guide for therapists, to help victims suffering from post-traumatic stress), Se relever d’un traumatisme (a guide for trauma survivors), Quand la mort est traumatique (a guide for the bereaved dealing with traumatic death) and a latest guide for mental health professionals: Entretenir ma vitalité d’aidant (maintaining caregiver vitality). Dr. Brillon has been invited to share her expertise at numerous public affairs commissions and was co-editor of the special issue on post-traumatic stress of the Revue Québécoise de Psychologie.

In 2010, she received the Distinguished Graduate Award for her “exemplary contribution to psychology” from UQAM. In 2013, she was named Eminent Professional of the Sacré-Cœur Hospital for “contributing to the university’s outreach”, and she facilitated a workshop at the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies as a “master clinician”. In 2022, she received the Professional Award from the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec to acknowledge “her remarkable professional achievements”. She trains psychologists, psychiatrists, and caregivers throughout the French-speaking world.
