Janina Fisher, PhD, a clinical psychologist, is one of the world’s leading experts in the treatment of psychological trauma. She is a former trainer at the Trauma Center (a research and treatment center founded by Bessel van der Kolk), a Board member of the Trauma Research Foundation, a patron of the John Bowlby Center, and a former instructor, Harvard Medical School. She is also a past president of the New England Society for the Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation, a member of the EMDR International Association Credit Provider, and Associate Director of Education at the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute.

Janina gives talks and teaches nationally and internationally on topics related to the integration of neurobiological research and new paradigms of trauma treatment into more conventional therapeutic modalities. She developed the TIST model: “Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment”.

She is co-author with Pat Ogden of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: Interventions for Attachment and Trauma (2015) and author of Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors: Overcoming Internal Self-Alienation (2017), Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma: a Workbook for Survivors and Therapists (2021) and Embracing Our Fragmented Selves. A Workbook for Trauma Survivors and Therapists (2026).
