Kathy Steele, MN, CS, recently retired, was in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia since 1985, specializing in the treatment of complex trauma, dissociation, attachment issues, and the challenges of complicated therapies.
She is a Past President and Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), and has also served two terms on the Board of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). Kathy served on the International Task Force that developed treatment guidelines for Dissociative Disorders, and on the Joint International Task Force that has developed treatment guidelines for Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
She has received a number of awards for her clinical and published works, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from ISSTD. She has published numerous journal articles and book chapters, and has co-authored three books, including The Haunted Self: Structural Dissociation and the Treatment of Chronic Traumatization (2006), Coping with Trauma-related Dissociation (2011), and Treating Trauma-related Dissociation: A Practical, Integrative Approach (2017).
