Founder of the Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Community, working at the intersection of trauma and mindfulness.

 

David Treleaven, PhD, is an author, educator, and trauma specialist. His work lies at the intersection of trauma and mindfulness. Born in Canada, he studied clinical psychology at the University of British Columbia, earned his PhD in psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, and is currently a faculty member at Brown University.

David is the author of the book Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness: Practices for Safe and Transformative Healing. He is also the founder of the Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness (TSM) Community, a group of practitioners committed to mainstreaming care through mindfulness-based practices, interventions, and programs.

Through workshops, lectures, podcasts, and online training, he draws heavily on current empirical research to develop best practices. His work has been incorporated into numerous mindfulness teacher training programs worldwide, including the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA, the Engaged Mindfulness Institute, and the MA in Mindfulness program at Bangor University in the United Kingdom.
