Writer and educator; studied the relationship between chronic illness and complex trauma.
Margeaux Feldman is a writer and educator originally from Tkaronto/Toronto who is actively involved in community development on Treaty 6 territory in Amiskwaciy Waskahikan/Edmonton, AB. They hold a PhD in English Literature and Gender Studies from the University of Toronto. Their dissertation explores the relationship between chronic illness and complex trauma, as well as the forms of intimacy and care that (cis and trans) traumatized women create among themselves. During their PhD, Margeaux organized various award-winning events, including “Sick Theories,” a transdisciplinary conference on illness and sexuality, and “Unruly Bodies: A Night of Storytelling.”
Margeaux’s creative writing has been published in PRISM, GUTS: A Canadian Feminist Magazine, The Puritan, and The Minola Review, among others, and they are the author of nine self-published zines. Margeaux is currently working on transforming their dissertation into a book manuscript titled Touch Me, I’m Sick. They recently earned a certificate in Integrated Somatic Trauma Therapy from The Embody Lab and enrolled in their Embodied Social Justice program. Margeaux is also behind the popular meme Instagram account @softcore_trauma.
