Cece
Sykes
IFS expert in the field of trauma and addiction, who enjoys blending psychotherapy with spirituality.
Originally trained as a structural and strategic family therapist, Cece Sykes worked for 12 years in Chicago with families affected by abuse, neglect, and addiction. She has worked with adult trauma survivors and patients with eating disorders, offering individual, couples, and group therapy. In the late 1990s she discovered IFS (Internal Family Systems) and immediately adopted this model in her clinical practice. She was one of the very first IFS trainers at the IFS Institute near Chicago and leads Level 1, 2, and 3 training programs across the country and abroad. She is one of the IFS experts in the field of trauma and addiction.
Cece enjoys blending psychotherapy with spirituality. She has drawn inspiration from numerous spiritual practices in Zen communities, and with Twelve-Step groups, to understand how to connect their vision of spirituality with psychotherapy. After decades in the field, Cece developed an interest in the impact of psychotherapy on the clinician’s life story. She created and now leads the “Heart Lessons of the Journey” workshops, which explore the personal narratives of psychotherapists from around the world.
