Clinical psychologist providing psychosocial support for victims of sexual and gender-based violence.

 

Marc Ombeni is a clinical psychologist by training and coordinator of the psychosocial pillar at the Panzi Foundation and Panzi Hospital, under the direction of Dr. Mukwege, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate. For the past five years, he has worked in the field of psychosocial support for victims of sexual and gender-based violence. He is an international trainer on the holistic care of these victims.

He is also a trainer for the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) on scaling up the holistic care model, and a member of the Great Lakes Trauma Integration Network (RTI-GL) and the National Union of Clinical Psychologists of the Congo, South Kivu section (UNPC/SK). Before joining the Panzi Foundation in 2016, Marc worked for Heartland Alliance International providing psychosocial support to internally displaced persons following various natural disasters in the Kalehe territory (South Kivu Province, DRC).
