Raja Selvam, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist in California, founder of Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP), is a senior trainer in Somatic Experiencing (SE)—created by Peter Levine—within professional trauma training programs.
ISP, grounded in emerging neuroscience regarding cognition, emotion, and behavior, is a complementary psychotherapeutic approach developed to accelerate results and shorten treatment duration across all therapies. It helps increase our tolerance for emotional experiences. ISP professional training programs and workshops have been offered in nearly twenty countries across North and South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Far East.
Raja’s work, grounded in Western and Eastern psychology, draws inspiration from Kleinian and intersubjective psychoanalysis, the analytical psychology of Carl Jung, bodywork systems such as Postural Integration and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, energy psychology modalities including Polarity Therapy and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), body psychotherapy systems such as Reichian therapy, bioenergetics, and “Bodynamic” analysis, Somatic Experiencing (SE), Attachment Theory, emerging neurosciences and physiology of cognition, emotions, and behavior, yoga, and Advaita Vedanta, a spiritual psychology from India.
