Annie
Brook
Renowned somatic psychotherapist; identifies and treats the root causes of suffering primarily around birth and post-birth.
Annie Brook, PhD, LPC, MSME, Body-Mind Centering teacher based in Boulder, Colorado, is a highly regarded somatic therapist whose experiential approach gets lasting results. She has worked with diverse and challenging populations, including abused foster children, adopted children, and gang youth.
Over 17 years, Annie has worked as a therapist in public schools and Children’s Hospital Child Trauma centers, served as Director of Body Psychotherapy at Naropa University, and co-founded Colorado Therapies. In 2001 she founded the Brook Institute for Somatic Studies and Psychotherapy, where she trains therapists and offers classes blending psychotherapy, sensory-motor neuroscience, attachment, Body-Mind Centering, and perinatal therapy. Her specialty is helping adults and children get to the roots of difficult behaviors by unwinding the impacts of birth and early life on the nervous system — releasing trauma at its source.
Annie is an author, international conference presenter, and educator for professional therapists across psychotherapy, play therapy, infant development, and movement. She has complemented her formal training with certifications in manual therapies, equine therapy, vocal studies, and developmental psychology.
