Deirdre
Fay

Certified psychotherapist in IFS, emotion-focused therapy, and AEDP; teaches Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

Deirdre Fay’s work is grounded in her own healing from trauma and attachment wounds, as well as in her extensive professional training as a psychotherapist.

She lived for six years in a spiritual community (the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health). This experience laid the foundation for her 25-year career as a psychotherapist, working in private practice and in hospital settings with trauma survivors in Boston and later in Arlington. She has also led workshops for therapists (in the United States, Canada, Europe, and South Africa) and works with individuals and groups online and by phone worldwide. In this way, she has contributed to the healing journeys of many people, teaching them to tap into their inner wisdom, develop a secure internal attachment, and create an internal structure that enables them to withstand and transform the complications of trauma, to find the path back to the Self.

From 2000 to 2008, after becoming certified, she taught at the Institute for Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, both nationally and internationally. She is also certified in IFS, Mindful Self-Compassion, Schema Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy). In 2009, she published Becoming Safely Embodied. In 2016, she co-authored Attachment Disturbances in Adults. In 2017, WW Norton Publishing released Yoga and Meditation: Attachment-Based Approaches for Trauma Recovery.
