Olivia
de Bergerac

A neuroscience researcher for whom the ocean has always played an important role, with particular interest in dolphins.

The sea has always played an important role in the life of Olivia de Bergerac. She grew up in Antibes, on the French Riviera, and her older brother was a diver in the Cousteau team. She holds a PhD in literature and psychology, and an MBA, and works as a neuroscience researcher and business coach. She played a key role in developing a sustainable port management plan to facilitate the return of dolphins to Sydney Harbor.

As part of her neuroscientific research, Olivia has been working with dolphins in Australia for many years. She studies what she calls the “Dolphin Within”, that is, the shared yet deeply personal experiences of people in close contact with wild dolphins. She is interested not only in the brain but also in the heart, comparing their respective activity before and after encounters with dolphins. She has established scientific evidence of the changes occurring in the brain, body, and mind, and presents arguments to explain these changes. According to her, connecting with one’s “dolphin within” can heal fears, phobias, addictions, grief, depression, and much more.

Her lectures provide an opportunity to share her research, conducted through immersion in the world of dolphins, and to reveal their therapeutic contribution to the field of human psychology.
